200 Tacos Stock Challenge!

Filed under: Uncategorized — hankthebank @ 11:08 pm

Greetings everyone! We understand it’s been a long time since any one has even opened up this little forgotten blog of ours. So, in an effort to continue our mission in promoting spirited competition, as well as drive what is ultimately meaningless traffic to this site, we are proud to announce the Inaugural 200 Tacos Stock Challenge!

Participants are given $100 to build out their portfolio over the course of one month. Players are free to buy and sell their stock as they please, and are allowed to invest in any combination of stocks as they please as long as the transactions are within their budget.

You can keep track of everyone’s performance here on this Google docs spreadsheet. Not a big fan of Google docs, so it still looks very basic, but it should serve its purpose for now.

Here are the guidelines, for the most part.

1) Participants are each given $100 to manage for their stock portfolio.

2) Players are allowed to invest the funds whenever and however they wish. (For example, the player can purchase multiple shares of 1 stock, or multiple stock at 1 share a piece.)

3) Players can buy and sell as they please. There is no commission fee.

4) Stock prices will be recorded on the closing price of that day. This is done so to limit an arbitrary purchases and provides a solid number to go on.

5) Given that transactions will be gauged using closing prices. Intraday trading will not be allowed. This means you will have to hold your stock for at least one full day before selling.

6) This competition will go on until November 1. At that time, the participant with the best return will win the competition.

That is all. I think. Feel free to ask me if you have any questions. Let’s get started!

Bling Bling Biatches! … A financial recap.

Don’t say we’ve never done anything for you. All of you probably remember this little gem we did back in early July. Well, if you listened to your ol’ pal Hank the Bank and invested $100 in each stock, you’d have a nice little profit of about $2.27 right now. That’s right. Two Dollars and Twenty Seven Cents. We Have a Winnah!

Well, the inaugural 200 Tacos Draft of Everything $100 or Less in the Universe has come and gone. Fortunately, everything turned out OK. We (me) actually had a little fun doing this, and we even managed to complete it, crowning to winners. Unfortunately, we (me) are not among said winners. Your winners are:

Tinmaker for best overall performance.

Kell Kell from Hell Hell for best individual post.

Each winner will get, a firm handshake and a hug from us (Tinmaker), as well as their own personal post about any topic (related or unrelated to this blog’s theme) they want. So, without further ado, the TM and Kell Kell, you’re both up in no particular order. Make us laugh.

And with that, we shall now conclude our first ever draft! Come back next time (as yet to be determined!) to play again. We thank you and truly appreciated your participation. We hope you had a hell of a time, we (me) know we did!

Payce y’all.

Hank the Bank

P.S. – This is for you Kell. (After the jump!) (more…)

200 Tacos Draft Voting!!!!!!!!!

It’s been a wonderful ride everyone, but sadly, all good things must come to an end. IT’S VOTING TIME!!! If you don’t remember what happened, you can catch up on Round 1, Round 2, and Round 3.

The voting process is very simple. There will be two categories of voting: best overall performance and best individual post. The rules are as follows:

Best Overall Performance: Select three different participants who you thought had the strongest draft picks. Rank your three selections from first to third place. First place votes get 5 points, second place votes get 3 points, and third place votes get 1 point. The player with the best accumulated score wins this category. You are allowed to vote for yourself in this category … though that’s kind of tacky if you ask us (me).

Best Individual Selection: In this category, just select an individual post that you felt was the best among the entire draft. Simple enough. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SELECT YOUR OWN POSTS HERE.

Voting will be open until 11:59 p.m. this Sunday, and voting is open to everyone. Participants of the draft are required to vote or they will be disqualified. Casual readers and fans/friends/relatives of participants are encouraged to vote. Just submit your vote in the comments section and we’ll tally them up.

Without further ado, here are the participants and their draft picks according to the original order.

DRAFT SUMMARY: Round Three Recap

Hi everyone!! Round three of the draft has come to a close here at 200 Tacos. And as with every ending of a round, here is the draft recap! Instead of a song, this time we’re going to explore this round through a different artistic avenue (song writing aint easy, yo!). What avenue is that you asked? Poetry! The acrostic poem to be exact (real poem writing aint easy either!)

For those who need an example, we bring you this:

(our original video got deleted, so we had to settle for Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez.)

Draft Pick: KKOOBBEEEEE!!!

4 packs of well designed doggie bags.

Nina Dautzenberg and Andrea Gadesmann of Berlin-based JungeSchactel took a mundane (and unpleasant) task and made it a little bit more attractive… or at least more so than the Albertson’s bag you’re currently using.  Aside from the appealing design, JungeSchactel didn’t ignore function.  With a built in “scoop” these are certain to make the task at hand (no pun intended) a bit more sanitary.  Each pack of doggie packs costs 12,90 Euro, which is about 20 dollars.  You can afford about 4 packs plus the cost of shipping from Berlin.  Each pack comes with 16 bags, so 100 dollars will get you through 64 bathroom breaks in style.  Plus it gets better!  The bags are 100% bio-degradable.  I now know what to get truckwithoutthekey for her birthday.  Lucky her!           via NOTCOT

Draft Pick: Fish Pedi!!!

This is supposed to be the new craze in the mani/pedi world.  A northern Virginia spa has been offering these fish pedicures for the past couple months.  Apparently there are 1,000 flesh eating fish (garra rufa) in a tank that eat away your nasty corns.  $35 will get you 15 minutes and $50 for 30 minutes.  After your 15 or 30 minutes you’ll also get the standard (snoooze!) pedicure.  The only downside is if you’re sharing a tank with someone who has a “surplus” of dead skin, the fish would flock to that individual’s feet (gross!!!!).  This service is available at Yvonne Hair and Nail Salon in Virginia (no joke…I also have an aunt by the name of Yvonne who also owns a hair and nail salon that I’m pretty sure is also called Yvonne Hair and Nail Salon…not to mention that she is from Virginia…no really I’m not joking.)

..uhh I think this person needs hankthebanks recommendation of the Ped Egg for that “surplus”.
